2. He is the co-founder of Ethereum

Ethereum is a blockchain platform that enables developers to easily develop and deploy smart contracts. The system utilizes Ether (ETH) as both payment and an incentive for miners who validate and add new blocks onto its network; currently it is the second-largest digital currency by market cap.

In 2013, Buterin began work on a project that would enable developers to create decentralized applications based on the principles of Bitcoin. He quickly realized that its application extended far beyond digital currency alone and began work on building Ethereum instead.

Buterin eventually developed an intricate plan for what he imagined Ethereum to become and released a white paper to share his vision with the world. Soon thereafter, members of the Ethereum community started reaching out with suggestions about what they could do with it.

As demand for Ethereum increased, Buterin assembled a core team to work on it. This consisted of Gavin Wood, Charles Hoskinson, Mihai Alisie, Anthony Di Iorio and Joe Lubin – as well as creating an initial coin offering (ICO) to fund development of the platform as well as founding the Ethereum Foundation in Switzerland to oversee its future growth.

Buterin has enjoyed great success since founding Ethereum and becoming wealthy and famous, yet he remains true to his roots. He remains active within the crypto community and makes numerous donations – for instance donating $1 billion towards combatting COVID-19 pandemic in India; supporting various crypto and blockchain projects; writing a blog that covers market research for Bitcoin; even being approached by Google about intern opportunities he joked that Google tried hiring him!

After attending University of Waterloo to study computer science, Vitalik discovered his interest for Bitcoin during this period of his studies.

Buterin was awarded a Thiel Fellowship, and proceeded to launch the Ethereum project, which quickly become a hugely successful venture, earning him over $18 Million and giving him enough capital for travel around the globe and meeting up with other crypto developers – not forgetting his very successful website called Bitcoin Magazine!

Buterin first became interested in cryptocurrency and blockchain technology at an early age. Although born in Russia, his family moved to Canada when he was seven. By 13, Buterin had developed impressive math skills – being able to recall several hundred digits of pi and solve complex mathematical problems quickly in his head – while possessing an aptitude for computer programming as well.

Buterin honed his skills while meeting influential mentors such as cryptographer Ian Goldberg during high school. Additionally, Buterin developed an interest in Bitcoin by learning about it through blog articles and forums before beginning writing for Bitcoin Weekly before co-founding Bitcoin Magazine – by 19 he had earned five Bitcoin for each article published!

In 2011, Buterin established Bitcoin Magazine online magazine and began writing articles for it. His writing caught Mihai Alisi’s eye, who offered him a job co-founding a print magazine; However, Buterin wanted more involvement with Bitcoin community but did not possess sufficient computing power or finances for mining so instead wrote articles on websites offering pay in Bitcoin instead of traditional media publication contracts.
