NYC Hospitals To Use Blockchain Technology From IBM For COVID-19 Relief

Northwell Health, the largest healthcare group in New York, joined the new network from IBM, Rapid Supplier Connect, to offer COVID-19 relief to the provision suppliers. Northwell Health is made out of over 800 hospitals.

The blockchain COVID-19 network from IBM is cloud-based and uses distributed ledger technology in order to assist businesses to offer coronavirus relief supplies, all while connecting with the buyers. IBM is going to offer Rapid Supplier Connect for free to the qualifying suppliers. At this moment, the deal is available until August 31.

Phyllis McCready, Northwell Health’s chief procurement officer and vice president, declared for Forbes:

“It is through creating our own group purchasing organizations (GPOs) and supply chain, and joining forces with non-traditional suppliers that we have maintained an adequate stockpile of personal protection equipment (PPE) and other equipment and supplies, so we are pleased to join IBM Rapid Supplier Connect.”

The Rapid Supplier Connect network was offered by IBM to assist and vet suppliers that offer emergency goods necessary for current coronavirus relief efforts. This platform includes identity services in order to streamline the vetting of the suppliers while offering emergency onboarding for suppliers. For the buyers, this is a platform that offers access to a solution that makes it easy to access suppliers. This includes product listings.

IBM declared:

“Provider organizations and government agencies face critical supply shortages. In response, they’re often turning to new, unproven suppliers. Identifying and vetting these suppliers can be time consuming and drains critical resources.”

IBM is also welcoming the Supply Chain Federation besides the largest healthcare provider in New York. It is made out of 200 members, all based in the US.

In related news, IBM offered its brain of I supercomputer, which is the most powerful in the entire world, to the researchers of Oak Ridge National Laboratory. This is where the computer will process countless simulations in order to predict the drug compounds that are going to be useful to tread the coronavirus.
